Chairil Anwar And batavia

Chairil Anwar was born in Medan 1922. Since 1941, Chairil live in Batavia, old name of Jakarta. He died in this city at April 1949. At least, he lived for seven years in Jakarta before he died. He wrote over 94 works, including 71 poems. This literary figure became one of the most celebrated Indonesian poets during the 1940s, through his style of writing.

This story tells about Chairil and Jakarta, a greeting for the 490th anniversary of Jakarta. He was an individualist person as impressed on his early poetry. But, he turned into a person who was very conscious that he was a part of the crowd: people of Jakarta that shared the same fate. He scanned this city in to his energetic poetry.
